early december, i recently moved from one place to another in austin. moving is exhausting and perhaps one of my least favorite activities…that i somehow seem to do far too often. as i started packing up my belongings for the long northern journey ahead (approximately 3.4 miles) i began to admire the artwork scattered across my wall like paint spatters being thrown from the end of a brush. these photos were the finishing touch that seemed to bring everything to life…these images i have collected on my journey as a photographer from various friends and artists that have inspired me along the way. in musing the imagery, as i watched it begin to dance across the living room wall, i decided it was the perfect backdrop for my next self portrait. it wasn’t until weeks later, during the photo shoot, that i figured out how to appropriately handle my subject matter in a way that was complimentary to both myself and the supporting works of art behind.
